Web search (Google)
Many guides are freely available on the Web. Enter your topic along with one of these: "research guide," pathfinder, or bibliography.
(Note: In addition to Google, there are also lots of other search engines to try.)

Library Catalog
Research guides may be published as books. Try using "legal research" as one of your title search words, or using either "indexes," "bibliography," or "legal research" as subject terms.

Research guides point to useful sources on a particular research task or topic. They may also provide background, e.g., a tax guide may explain the kinds of Treasury Dept. regulations.

Updates to research guides depend on the form in which it was published. Guides published on the web are most likely to be regularly updated, but this is not guaranteed. Look for last updated information.
