Jury Instructions: Home

Why Consult Jury Instructions?

Courts may favor model or pattern instructions that have been carefully written by objective parties. Some instructions summarize what must be proven in a case, so they can help focus attorneys' attention on the most important facts. They may also reference cases or other sources that can help with research.

The library also has jury instructions specific to certain subjects or other jurisdictions.

You can see all of the library's jury instruction materials or do a more specific search in SuperSearch (the online catalog). Select the Advanced Search link to get a search form. Then input "instructions to juries" in a subject search box AND adding other search terms, such as your jurisdiction or subject, in a separate keyword or subject box.
