Constitution Day Lecture -- September 17th
Next week we have the great opportunity to celebrate Constitution Day at Drake University. Our Constitutional Law Center is one of only four such centers established by Congress and funded by the federal government.
Professor Stephen Gardbaum, Stephen Yeazell Endowed Chair in Law at UCLA School of Law will be speaking from 3-4 p.m. on Thursday, September 17th. His lecture is entitled “The Counter-Playbook: Resisting the Populist Assault on Separation of Powers”.
This lecture is free, but you do need to sign up in Eventbrite in order to receive the Zoom link to participate in the lecture.
If you have any issues signing up for this lecture, please contact Sara Hughes at email@example.com.
The two days of fall break are being shifted to Thanksgiving week. Classes will be held on Mon., Oct. 12 and Tues., October 13, but there will be an entire week off at Thanksgiving. Also, the last week of classes and all finals will be delivered remotely. We are currently working through how exams will be delivered remotely, as students will receive letter grades for the fall semester. Please continue to watch your email for more information as it becomes available. Under this plan most students who leave for Thanksgiving would not need to return to campus until the spring term begins in January.
Student organizations planning to hold events need to fill out an informational/approval form at least three business days* before the event is scheduled in order to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines can be met. Contact Emily Fleming for the form and any reservations you need to make. (Note: The link will be shared at a later time.)
For events held inside, food and drink will not be permitted. You can have food and drink at outside events, if you can follow the social distancing and face covering requirements.
*If your event is outside and you are serving food, you need to complete the form at least one week prior to the event so that your Sodexo order doesn’t incur late fees.
