Articles: Find Articles that Cite a Known Article

Who cited this article?

If you find a highly relevant source, particularly one that was not published in the last year or so, seeing who else has cited it can be a good way to identify other research sources.

Below are some of the tools that can help you identify citing sources.

Notes:

  • The tool will only work if your starting article is included in that database.
  • Moreover, each tool can only identify citations included in its database, so you will likely get different results with each option. There may be a great deal of overlap or just a bit of overlap.
  • Not every citing articles will be useful. The citing source may reference your article for reasons that are not of interest to you.
  • Directions for using these tools, with screenshots, may be found on the Faculty Scholarship guide.
