Submitting a Print Job

If you are printing from a personal device like your laptop, you will need to log in to PaperCut.

  • If you are a student who has access to a shared account in addition to your personal account, select the account you would like to use for a particular print job. 
  • From the menu on the left, select "Web Print."
  • Once you have opened the Web Print page, select "Submit a Job" and follow the on-screen prompts to submit your desired print jobs.
  • Note: When the screen shows "Held in a queue," don't click that link. Instead, go to one of the Xerox machines, badge in, and your print job should be waiting for you to release it at the machine.

 

If you are logged in to a Drake computer, you are also logged into PaperCut. To print from a campus computer:

  • Use the file > print menu to send your print job(s).
  • Select the BW_Xerox_FollowMe (black-and-white) or Color_Xerox_FollowMe.
  • Select either double-sided or single-sided from the file > print menu on your computer (the printers will default to double-sided).

Releasing a Print Job

Once a job has been submitted, you can print from any printer on Drake's campus. To release a job, log in to the device you would like to print from by holding your ID card on top of the card reader (black box with a red light on the left front side of the device) or by typing in your Drake credentials using the keyboard icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Once logged in:

  • The touch screen will display a banner near the top of the screen with the number of print jobs pending release and the page count. To the right side of the banner will be a "Print All" button for printing all the submitted jobs.
  • To select jobs individually press the "Print Release" icon on the left side of the screen, the next page will display all submitted print jobs.
  • Select individual print jobs by checking the box on the left side of the screen. The number of copies, the number of sides, the color, and the  paper size should also be displayed. The arrow to the right side should also give more information about the document.
  • After selecting the documents to print, press the "Print" button in the lower right.
  • If there are documents you no longer need you can select them and press the trash icon at the lower right for them to be deleted.
  • Once finished, log out by pressing the log out icon next to the user name in the upper right corner of the screen.

Printing from a USB Device

Please Note: Print from USB only supports printing PDF documents. It does not recognize other document formats including Word documents, to print those formats please use web print. 

  • Start by logging into the device you would like to print from by holding your ID card on top of the card reader (black box with a red light on the left front side of the device) or by typing in your Drake credentials using the keyboard icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Once logged in:

  • Make sure the USB storage device is plugged into the USB port between the card reader and touch screen. If there is not a solid connection the device will not be able to read the storage device.
  • A screen may pop up titled "No Apps Configured" with the dialogue "There are no apps configured to support USB Drive functionality," please ignore this screen, or close the text box in the upper right with the x icon.
  • The banner at the top of the screen should read "Paper Cut MF," use the touch screen to select the "Access Device" icon in the middle of the screen.
  • This is the home screen of the device and will be displayed if you press the home button to the right of the display. From this screen select the printer icon that says "Print From."
  • A screen with the heading "Print From" will appear and have icons to select "Saved Job" or "USB" select USB.
  • This screen shows the contents of the USB drive and displays the files that can be selected for printing. Choose a file by clicking the check box to the right of the file name, many files can be selected this way. Unsupported file types will not appear on the list of files.
  • Once the files to be printed have been selected the device will display the a screen with print options. The selected file names should appear at the top of the screen. If additional files need to be added, then select the plus icon in the upper left titled "Add Document."
  • Select any print options you may need, and when ready select the "Print" button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Once finished, log out by pressing the log out icon next to the user name in the upper right corner of the screen.
